Lesson Outline
Meetings are a key part of UK office life. Meetings in the UK provide an opportunity for team members to put across their views, it is therefore important to learn to communicate effectively in meetings.
In this lesson, we will:
Work through examples to develop your understanding of what a good meeting looks like, whilst considering cultural influences.
Look at meeting vocabulary, structure and agenda (we will even have a quiz and a gam of BINGO to help memorise!).
Practise meeting planning and email invitations.
You can find a brief outline of what we will be covering this lesson below.
-
Meetings in the UK often begin with some small-talk, and CAN be less hierarchical. Informal discussion and brainstorming (where everyone is encouraged to share their views) are a common format for UK meetings.
-
We will look at some example meetings, to analyse their language. We will also work through key language required for meetings. You will even analyse an example meeting role-play by your teachers!
-
There will be an opportunity to plan a business meeting.
