Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed the first session of the course and are ready to continue developing your Business English skills.
This lesson, we will be exploring cover letters and personal statements. One of the most important parts of applying for a job in the UK is being able to sell yourself to your future employer. Having a well-written cover letter or personal statement is the best way to make you stand out from the crowd.

Learn to write and structure an effective email, along with appropriate language to use in an email.

Develop an understanding of what makes an effective personal statement, through analysing example personal statements.

Identify the audience for your personal statement. Create a draft ‘personal statement’ to develop and share with the relevant person/organisation.
Lesson Objectives:
By the end of this lesson, we hope you will:
Have developed a good understanding of how to write a professional business email in the UK.
Have developed an understanding of what makes a personal statement effective.
Learnt how to structure personal statements successfully to ensure your best qualities stand out to employers.
Lesson Details:
Location: Online (a calendar invite will be sent to your email address).
Date and Time: Tuesday 30th April, 7pm - 9pm
Lesson Assessment
For your assessment this week, you will need to use what you have learned during the lesson to write your own personal statement OR covering letter using a scenario provided by your teacher (the scenario will be specific to your industry).
The letter must be between 250 - 400 words on 1 side of A4 paper.
